Annet Malherbe wins Gouden Televizier-Ring Acteur and Rust en Vreugd returns for season two

Following Annet Malherbe’s win at last night’s Televizier-Ring Gala, where she received the Televizier-Ring for Best Actor, broadcaster Omroep MAX has officially announced that its hit drama series Rust en Vreugd will return for a second season. The much-loved allotment gardeners are back with new stories from behind the hedges. The broadcast and streaming dates on NPO 1 and NPO Start will be announced at a later date.

A second season was almost inevitable following the success of the first. Rust en Vreugd proved to be a ratings hit this spring. The new season returns to the allotment complex, where Emma (Annet Malherbe) builds an unexpected new life following the death of her husband, Thomas. Just as Emma has found happiness again, the local council decides that the allotment site must go. Together with her eccentric fellow gardeners, she fights to save their little paradise in a chaotic campaign involving petty rules, feuds between neighbours and blossoming romances.

Tim Oliehoek (The Secret Diary of Hendrik Groen, The Menten Case, Arcadia) returns as director, with Tamara Bos (Romy’s Salon, Rocco & Sjuul) once again writing the screenplay. Annet Malherbe will reprise her role as Emma in the second season.

Rust en Vreugd is a co-production of Omroep MAX and Lemming Film, based on Hendrik Groen’s book De slag om Rust en Vreugd (The Battle for Rust en Vreugd).
